My Big Fat Diary: Week 3

Hello Everyone,

Week Three:
Flop; that is what I think of this week. I haven't done badly buy to be honest my head hasn't fully been in the game. I had a little reality shock on Friday when I decided to go through my waredrobe trying on 90% of my clothes and find that A LOT are tight or don't fit. I have got a rid of lots of things and I have kept all my nice clothes which I can aim to get into. It took me nearly 5 hours and it definately has given me a push in the right direction :)

Lost: 1lb

Food: I have had a few naughty treats this week but I have been trying to pick the healthier options for example I went to the cafe with my friend and instead of having a fry up, I had poached egg on toast. Friday night I had a curry with the family and instead of my typical chicken tikka masala, pilau rice and a peshwari naan I opted for a Chicken Bhuna, boiled rice and a plain naan (which I shared with my Dad). I also had a girls night in on Saturday and whilst the wine (calorific) was flowing we snacked on baked crisps, low fat tips and vegatables and having thin crust home cooked pizzas over dominos.

Calorie Target - 1500 per day/ 10,500 for the week.

Calorie Intake - 12, 341 for the week - which means i had an average of 1,700 calories a day which isn't too bad over my target. I tried to balance the bad days with the good ones.

Fitness: Gah I haven't improved from last week and to be honest I have felt like a massive heffer so I couldn't think of anything worst than going to the gym. I know that is sounds silly because if I went to the gym I probably would feel better afterwards. I always find as well there are a lot of slim healthy people at my gym and this can make me feel a little awkward but I need to understand the reason that they are like that is because they are at the gym often. Sounds silly but so true. I have been taking myself out on walks mainly to calm myself down as I have felt a little over stressed this week.

Exercising Target - 3x 1 hour exercise per week

Actual Exercising - 3x half hour power walking sessions (this was more for stress relief to be honest. Oops - still exercise though) and a 20 minute intense Body Conditioning session.

Mood: I have been coming up to my 'time of the month' and I had what felt like a really bad weekend. There is something about me which sometimes makes me worry so much that I either feel sick to my stomach or I feel sorry for myself and demolish most things in sight. Most of you girls will understand the emotions we all get before that time and I am just one of these girls which turn into the cookie monster. As of Monday though I am starting a new full time job, which I am so excited about and hopefully that will put a little more routine in my life and cut the time that I have to worry about little things.

If you want to see the background behind me and my weight see this post (includes pictures)

Is anyone on a weight loss or healthy living kick at the moment? If you are please leave your links below as I am in need of inspiration.

  1. Ah girl, don't worry, I have the same thing! Everytime it's almost "that time" I start eating like crazy and I'm never satisfied. I'm in exams now and it's just comfort food all the way. I play on doing a sports hobby after exams though, thinking about Jiu-jitsu because those trainings are super hard and exhausting, so that'll make me feel better about myself :) We could motivate eachother haha! I'm starting in February, first finishing exams :) Good luck! xx

  2. I'm such a sucker for chocolate and everything that's bad for me, so much so I'm even contemplating getting maccie d's for lunch today. I really didn't realise how much weight I had put on until I went to try on stuff in my wardrobe and like yourself - barely any of them fitted. I now go for a run around my village once a week (10 - 15 mins), do 2 ten minute work outs a week(10 minute work out solution DVDs)and a bit of kinect fun once or twice a week. Well that's the plan anyway.... Lol as far as it goes with 'time of the month' problems with moodiness and pains etc I'm just as bad and you'd be lucky to get me out of my pjs let alone do any sort of exercise! I've heard that cutting out sugar helps with the pains though?? xo

  4. Hello lovely, thanks for stepping in my blog!
When I came to your blog I thought it would be only a beauty and lifestyle blog, basically like me but I found out that yours is way much deeper than that. I really admire how motivated you are to lose weight. I am extremely overweight, well more like obese (even if you don't believe) and it's so so so hard for me to have motivation to even start working out.. I lost one kg last week and I got it back because this weekend was only party and birthdays, cakes, pizzas etc!

Ahh.. I wish I had your motivation.. seriously,. that could make such a difference, thing is when you are sooo overwieght you think there is no wya back.

Btw I saw your pictures, I dont think you are fat al all, only beautiful!

    good luck xx

    1. Aw thank you, I am hoping that by opening up and being honest it will help me realise where I am going wrong but it will also help me talk to some of my blog readers and share tips & ideas. My BMI is actually in the obese section so I am trying to do this for health reasons but I am such a sucker for pizza and cakes and chocolate etc. They are so yummy lol! oops! It is finding in your heart to do it and balance the bad days with the good :) x

  5. Hi Lovely, you are doing really well, well done!! I don't think I could stick to a low calorie diet, I have such a sweet tooth that all I ever do is snack & rarely bother eating proper meals. Keep up your good work :) As for the gym, don't stress about it, when I go I don't even think about the other people there, I just stick my ipod in and get on with it & I promise that most people will be doing exactly the same so don't worry about them :) Once you get in to gonig and having a routine to complete there then you'll feel tonnes better. When I go I tend to do cardio for 30 mins and then do a little weight rountine for 20 and afterwards I feel so much happier! But if you don't want to go don't force yourself as a power walk will do you the world of good as well!

    1. Yeah I can't stick to anythign to strict and I think to be hoenst I don't want to do a fad diet as I don't want it all to just come back on again. Yeah I need to get myself into my own little zone when it comes to the gym to be honest. I think you have such a great gym routine... a few years back I lost a lot of weight and this is similar to the rountine which I used to do :) x

  6. It's alright to cheat a little bit once in a while, I heard that it keeps you in check. Try making some friends at the gym too - I'm sure some of the people there wouldn't mind a workout partner. I'm the type to be super conscious about myself whenever I work out (I think I look silly working out by myself), so having a friend with me helps a lot. Make sure to pile on the veggies too!

    1. That is my downfall... not piling up the veg - I am good with salad but when I have veg with a meal, I only ever put a couple of bits on! I need to do this more. I am trying to get into a routine with my best friend but it is had to get us both free at the same time. :( x

  7. I commend and admire you for trying to live a healthy lifestyle! Its not easy! I think you are doing great so far, don't beat yourself up for caving a little. It's ok!
I honestly grew up in a very healthy household and I still struggle with the late night snacks and such but it's all about moderation. Also, quick tip, every morning I drink a warm glass of water with a tablespoon of lemon juice. You won't notice it at first but after a while, it helps with your metabolism, it cleanses, and if you're taking any vitamins it helps your body retain them in your system better instead of flushing out most of it. I do it every morning and I'm at the point where I notice a difference from NOT doing it. So maybe try it out as well?

Keep at it! Don't give up and I'm sure you'll get into healthy habits soon.

    Best,
    xx

    1. Ooo this is such a useful tip - I need to get myself into a route of trying this every morning! I always start with good intentions and do it for a week and then forget. I have tried this week instead of my ususal cup of tea I have been trying this and so far so good. Thank you so much for this tip. :) x

  9. Girl, You are doing great!! I'm glad your working on your lifestyle changes. I am definitely on a health kick, and it started last October-ish, when I started exercising & eating better! :) It really has helped with my fatigue, and stress. Keep it up, but don't worry about being naughty, its not normal to completely cut out the foods that you like, just eat them in moderation! <3
