Mark Hill Beautiful Blonde Collection

Highlight Reflective Shampoo
Highlight Reflective Conditioner
Fabulous Finish Hairspray
Diamond Shine Spray

I received this as a gift at Christmas and surprise surprise I have only just got round to reaching for these because like most girls who are obsessed with beauty products people just find little set easy to buy as presents. And I love it, it gives me a chance to try products which I never had picked up myself.

This Mark Hill Collection was one of them and to be honest I am pretty gutted that they have rebranded and don't have any similar alternative. The shampoo and conditioner smells great, it has lemon juice in it which brings out the brightness in the highlights that I have. The conditioner isn't as nourishing as I would like it to be for blonde hair, as I find on the whole that blonde hair is really dry.

The shine spray has also they same pointers as when I curl my hair I generally find that hairspray can make my hair look frazzled at the ends and I don't really need it as my hair holds curls quite well (i think it's because it is like a bush. haha) but the shine spray really loosens the curls and makes them look softer and more natural. I also found that in the sun it really made my hair look really conditioned and shiny without appearing greasy. I know it is better to have a product that doesn't just cover up dry dull hair but actually nourishes it except sometimes a quick fake job tends to help for a night.

My Top 3 Bargain Lip Balms

Thursday, 20 September 2012

I'm not really a lip balmy girl... I'm more a fan of lip balms/lip sticks like the Revlon Lip Butters. I'm quite lucky also to not have overtly chapped lips so I never really need the balms. However, as the winter months draw in I do find myself reaching for the old lip pots. Though this year I have found myself becoming more aware of the germiness of using finger pots... hmm... I'm on the fence on the debate whether they are good or not.

Vaseline - Rosy Lips - £2 I love this because I really like lip balms with a tint, this runs smoothly over my lips and I feel that it is great for nourishing them. It doesn't particularly smell that great - it don't get that wow smell effect. I don't find it great on crazily dry lips either but a good handbag balm.

The Body Shop - Cranberry Joy - £2 (can no longer get because a Christmas exclusive) This is my ultimate gem of a lip pot, I try to use it sparingly as I adore the smell and everything. It is slightly tinted and has a soft glittery shimmer running through the balm which is lovely on your lips. It smells out of this world too.

Carmex - Lip Pot Original - £2.69 Carmex is a beaut for the days when nothing is rescuing your lips. If they are dry and sore this lip balm with kiss your lips and melt away of all the dry flakiness of winter. I find that it smells medicated which puts me off and also convinces me that it does some good.

Empties #4

Wednesday, 19 September 2012

So my empties keep stacking up so much... I haven't posted about them in ages and I like to write these posts because it lets me keep track of things that I like and I don't like because when I am in a store or in front of a sales assistant I will buy anything that looks pretty and shiny and claiming to turn me into a Victoria Secrets Model. Witty I know.

The Body Shop Camomile Gentle Eye Make-Up Remover 60ml £3 - I had this phase where everything that I brought was from The Body Shop. I remember one day picking up this little bottle because I was going to stay at a friends and needed something small, and I'm not a fan of make-up wipes as I have sensitive eyes. Now expecting that this was Camomile this would be fine on my eye however, it stung so badly that it felt like it was making my eye blister. I also had to rub hard to removed it all off and it didn't shift waterproof mascara off.
Won't Repurchase - I think the fact that it stung so much just says that I won't be getting it.

Philip Kingsley Pure Silver Jet Set Hair Care Kit  2x75ml 1x20ml £19.99 - I really wanted to try all of these products and I was so happy when these came as a small version in a pack and for half the price. However, I know it probably wasn't as cost effective because of the size/value ratio but I love trying out new products.
Will Repurchase - My favourite part of this trio is the Elasticizer, it was like heaven on my hair. I now understand the hype behind this product and I will probably be repurchasing until a new product this good comes out. The purple shampoo and conditioner was good but I'm not particularly sure if they worked for toning down the yellowness, but it was a goody as a general shampoo and conditioner.

Nivea Natural Beauty Radiance Boosting Daily Scrub 150ml £4.99 - The formula of this product was odd, it was gloopy and thick and felt like it had table salt grains in it. It was meant to be a scrub but it didn't feel like it, it just felt scratchy on my skin. The product didn't particularly smell nice and it didn't seem to do anything on my skin except make it look rashy and irritated.
Won't Repurchase - I hated this. It was horrible on my skin and didn't do anything.

Soap & Glory Flake Away Body Scrub 300ml £7 - I like this product enough that I would use it again but I do prefer the Soap & Glory Breakfast Scrub as it is my favourite. The downside of this is that it can leave an oily residue on your skin which really annoys me. I don't mind it on my legs but I hate it when it is on the rest of my body.
Might Repurchase - I liked this product but didn't love it and I prefer the Breakfast Scrub - but I would still always use it.

Garnier Caffeine Eye Roll On 15ml £9.99 - I think with this product, I was expected too much. You know we always do it, when a product is hyped up so much you always expect amazing things and when it doesn't work the way you wanted it... it kind of flops. That's what happened... it kind of left a gloopy mess underneath my eyes which dried sticky... annoyingly.
Won't Repurchase - I didn't get the hype with this product and really didn't rate it. I have heard good things about the one will concealer so will possible will try this.

The Body Shop: My Top Body Butters

Tuesday, 18 September 2012

Here are my top three favourite Body Shop Body butters - Coco Butter; Satsuma; Coconut.

The Body Shop Butters retail at £12.50  these ones are the older packaging as I brought them just before the switch over. I do love the new packaging so check it out either in store or online. On a whole The Body Shop body butters are my favourite moisturiser, they smell amazing which is a top thing that I tend to look out for. The cream tends to soften my skin and I find that it sinks in quite well without leaving my body feeling greasy or sticky.

Now I personally think they are on the pricy side even though I love the product but when you're slapping it around your body all the time, these large pots soon empty. Lucky enough they tend to do promotions on these, like the last time I stocked up they were on 3 for 2... hence I was able to pick all my favourite scents. And the smells last on your body for ages too... it always lifts my mood. I'm quite particular that I tend to use the satsuma one if I have showered in the morning the coconut one if I've had a bath/shower in the evening and the Coco butter one if my body is being dry or dull you know.

Silly little routines that I find myself in... Sounds really daft when I say it out loud.

What are you favourite Body Butters?

F*ck Monday: Update

Monday, 17 September 2012

Hello my lovely followers,

I have been a little pre-occupied these past couple of weeks, I had an internship at Delicious Magazine which was probably the best two weeks of my life. I'm dead keen to get back into the magazine industry as soon as possible. So at the moment, I am just bumming a little, working on my blog and working on a couple of small projects that I have started too.

Also my darling boyfriend is taking me to Newquay for the weekend, it's a birthday treat as my birthday is next week... eek. The big 23 :( slowly creeping to mid twenties; not that there is much I can do about it. Other than that not many different changes with me. I thought I would share this beautiful picture of Lauren Conrad because she is my absolute idol, I love her (not in a weird creepy way). Just I think she is great.

Oh and incase you have noticed I have finally sorted out my blog layout... thanks to Gillian from Elevatormusik who designed this fabulous layout. I'm so happy with it; so check her out!
