REVIEW: Tropic Face Smooth Brightening Polish

What Tropic Say: "Our Face Smooth brightening polish is a skin staple. It contains powerful Acai berries to brighten and gentle alpha hydroxy acids to stimulate skin renewal. It works to cleanse, exfoliate, tone and moisturise all in one, to leave your skin feeling velvety, refreshed and simply radiant."

What I Say: So in the past couple of months my skin has gone through some magical transformation now I partially put it down to my increase in water consumption and better diet. However, if there is one main product which has just made my skin pop into its own it has been this facial polish from Tropic. I picked it up at the end of March at the Vitality show - this was a brand that I have never heard of but was sold by the great sales assistants and the product demonstrations. 

Pros: 

- As you know a big positive for me in a product is the smell, it has a very strong citrus scent - so it may not be for everyone but I love it.

- Once you rinse the polish off, your skin is left so soft - kind of with an oily residue but isn't greasy or noticable on your skin. It doesn't leave your skin feeling dehydrated. 

- It says to use it 2-3times a week but I find just using it once as a treat still has a great effect on the skin. 

- It helps clear up any redness in blemishes too. 

Cons: 

- My only problem with this scrub is the fact that you can scrub your skin too much as it is quite abrasive. So if you over scrub it can hurt your skin - I don't know whether this is because I have quite sensitive skin but either way it is still great once you get the right level of scrubbing! 

- The scrub and oil separate which makes it sometimes a little difficult to scoop a good mixture of the both in a go. 

To be honest, I couldn't recommend this scrub enough, I love it! If you are suffering with your skin at the moment this could be your answer like it was mine. Have you tried this brand or heard of them? 

REVIEW: La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo

La Roche-Posay Effaclar Duo - £13 for 60ml

What La Roche-Posay says: It is designed for oily skin with irregular texture, prone to imperfections, blemishes and sports. It unclogs pores and helps to purify and reduce the development of future breakouts. It also helps to reduce skin imperfections leaving skin looking clearer and feeling smoother. Apply morning and/or night to the entire face. Can be used as a make-up base.

What I say: I was a little sucker for the hype of this product and the fact that I couldn't find it for ages as it was sold out everywhere. I was like a woman possessed because it just made me want it even more but before I could get my hands on this I read so many great reviews. Now I don't actually think this lives up to the hype for the reason that it isn't designed for my skin type. I have dry/normal skin with a few spots here and there. I feel that it made my skin feel softer and smoother but didn't see that much of a change with my spots at all unfortunately. I'm not sure whether I am using incorrectly or that isn't designed for me. 

Pros:

- It made my skin feel a lot softer and more subtle.

- I feel like the packaging and the fact that it comes in a squeeze-ey tube 

- I think it is a great price £13 in Boots and usually they do offers and things - so you can pick it up for cheaper.

- I find that whilst is doesn't clear my blemishes it could be helping them stay at bay though I'm not sure whether that is just because my hormones have settled down. 

- Also lastly, I got told by a friend that she used it as a make-up base - clearly I never read the packaging and found it great way to keep my make up on. 

Cons:

- I find it a little stingy on my skin, I don't have particularly sensitive however it is quite dry and I know this is aimed at more oily type skin tones - which could be why it irritates a little.

- It doesn't clear up my spots or anything and I find that there is no change in the redness or appearance of them.

This Works: Clean Skin 5-in-1 Water

This Works: Clean Skin 5-in-1 Water - £21

So I bought this cleanser a few months back and I only used it a couple of times because at the same time I bought a new bottle of Bioderma which is one of my all time favourite make-up removers. Now I have sadly come to the end of my Bioderma and have switched to the This Works water and to be honest I haven't actually notice a big difference between the two.

There is one thing which stands out to me between these products is that the Bioderma is a lot more sensitive around the eye area. I find that Bioderma doesn't sting my eyes as much as this one does. It makes the outer corner of my eyes sore after I have wipe any eye make-up off. I am not sure whether this is because the ingredients in this cleanser reacts with the ingredients of my mascara or whether it just isn't as gentle as some other cleansers. If I could I would have this my way I would have the This Works cleanser for my face and the Bioderma for my eyes but I never have the time to do this.

One of my favourite things about this product which I prefer from the Bioderma is the packaging. I like the sleek and modern and looks like it is from a higher price range. The lid has a tight clip and the product is a pump so you are less like to spill or put too much product onto a pad. It also contains rosewater which I am not a fan of due to its scent but with this cleanser, the rose smell is growing on me. The cleanser makes my skin feel fresh and super clean so I don't feel that I have to double cleanse. The water also contains elements of Mint in this water which helps keep redness at bay and it actually works which I was pretty impressed by.

Overall, I think the This Works cleanser is great for getting face make-up off and really working deep into the pores to decongest the skin and help brighten it. I would 100% be repurchasing this but I think it will always come in joint with Bioderma as I go through stages of using each one!

Botanics Hydrating All Bright Day & Night Cream

Botanics Hydrating All Bright Day & Night Cream - £4.99 (currently £3.49)

Since the rebranding of Botanics, I just can't seem to keep away from them. It doesn't help that they are always on promotion which makes it that little more tempting. Though having said that the reason I am pulled towards the brand for the price isn't just the main persuasion, they are great products. The fresh floral smelling pink creams blend and sink smoothly the skin. With hibiscus which acts as a brightening agent because of the flowers natural AHA's which exfoliates to help brighten the skin.

As most of my readers know, I don't like spending too much on products however I like products to have a high quality no matter how much they cost. I chose the hydrating cream as I have been finding that because the weather has been so cold my skin has become dry and chapped. I need a cream which nourishes my skin but doesn't sit on top of it, which these creams don't.

The day cream has an SPF 15 which saves times or putting too many layers of product on your skin especially as I tend to put foundation on afterwards.  You don't need to put too much on your skin as a little goes a long way. These are only 50ml pots, however I have been using them for the past 2 months and I am about half my way through them.

The night cream I think is my favourite of the pair because it feels kind of balmy as the formula is quite thick. However when smoothed onto the skin it doesn't take long to sink in by which time my skin feels soft and as though it has nothing on it. That is a personal favourite about any product, when it naturally enhances and you don't notice it but can see it working. Also I must had as well that both of these creams contain hyaluronic acid which helps your skin retain its moisture which is why you don't need too much all over and just focus on my dry patches.

For how cheap that this product is, I am in love. I am dreading the day when they rebrand the product because I know they will change the formula. Companies always do this and it is really annoying. This conditioner is probably the first one that I have used in a long time where I can say it makes it silky smooth. 

Lush BB Seaweed Fresh Face Mask 
If my skin is going through "time of the month" hell then this is the mask which usually sorts out my skin. I find it really clarifying and calming. I tend to have to use it after my spots have kind of come out because I find if I use it before they have erupted then my skins tends to burst out into a spotty nightmare. However, it makes them fade really quickly and relieves any redness too. It is a spot hero. 

The Body Shop Coconut Body Scrub
Coconut is my favourite scent especially for my body, that aside from citrus ones. This scrub from The Body Shop because is not too abrasive to use everyday but it scrubs enough to really work into the skin. That and the smells lasts ages (though I do pair it with the coconut body butter) which probably helps but it is definitely delicious. 

Lancome Tonique Douceur Hydrating Toner
I can't wait to get paid because my skin has been missing this already. I love this toner and it is one of my favourite thing for my skin. It smells of Parma Violets and just sinks into my skin beautifully. I don't really know what to say other than it is amazing!

Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation (See Full Review Here)
For a high street brand, this foundation is flawless and just blends into my skin beautifully. It has great coverage but isn't cakey. I can't wait to repurchase this but I am currently trying to use up some older ones first however it is definitely on the cards especially when summer time comes around. 

Lee Stafford Hair Growth Treatment 
I am still not 100% sure whether this actually makes your hair grow but I do think it helps. If that makes any sense. But aside the fact that it might not make your hair grow it is great at conditioning it and putting back into good condition. I use it for my "Sunday Head" where I cling film wrap my hair for about 2-3 hours. I may not look sexy but my hair does especially after I wash it out!

Radox Moisture Soak Bath Therapy
I am a little bit of a bath snob as I love my Lush products, I know that they aren't the most cost effective but they make my bath times that little bit special. I don't dislike Radox it just makes the bath time less special, but I find it handy to always have a bottle in my cupboard just incase my Lush stock has run out. It smells nice and bubbles up -  what more do you need from a bath. 

John Frieda Frizz-Ease Daily Miracle Treatment
Again this is another product which I liked but not loved. It did a good job and what is was supposed to but didn't make my hair feel out of this world. Good but definitely no miracle.

I love this summery scent - I have used it on and off for years. I love how fresh it is and it is light too. The only thing that annoys me slightly is that it the scent doesn't last for as long as I would like but after using it for a while it doesn't become a stronger scent. 

John Frieda Full Repair Shampoo 
This was a thick shampoo which felt like it was making a difference too. I always find that I focus on getting a great conditioner and tend to forget the shampoo, when actually the shampoo is probably the most important. I love how thick this is and the smell of it too. 

Aussie 3 Minute Miracle Reconstructor
Now I know so many people who love this product, I would probably go as far as saying that I like this product but I don't find it amazing. I find that it is quite heavy in my hair and I have to spend ages washing it out. However, once I have taking the time to rinse it, it is okay. I might look into trying this again - any tips would also be helpful :)

I don't know why but this toothpaste gives me such bad breath well at first it is really minty but then leaves a horrible taste in my mouth. Would not recommend or buy again.  

John Frieda Full Repair Conditioner
I wasn't impressed by this as much as I was with the Shampoo because I didn't think that it was nourishing enough for my hair. It didn't treat it as well as I would have expected this conditioner to do. 

The Body Shop Peppermint Pumice Foot Scrub (See Full Review Here)
This is going to be too much information and probably be a little grim but I have quite bad skin on my feet and I need a scrub which is really thick and feels like it is shredding the hard skin off. The scrub is quite squidgy and doesn't have thick corse grains. 

Lee Stafford My Big Fat Healthy Hair Shampoo (See Full Review Here)
This was one of these products which I was just rushing to get rid off and I wanted to finish it. I just wasn't impressed with it at all. I can't say what I didn't like because I don't know it just made my hair feel crappy to be honest. 

Lancome Anti-Stress Moisturising Cream
This was a nice little sample and I quite liked it. I found it too thick to use as a day time cream but not thick enough for a nighttime cream even though I used it as that. It made my skin feel hydrated and calmed the redness but when I looked in to buying it but it was way too expensive considering I wasn't wowed by the product. 

L'oreal Super Liner Luminizer in Green
This was easy to apply and gave a really nice consistent line and at first I liked the sparkly green shimmer in it. There is nothing wrong with this product at all but I just generally prefer black eyeliner one which is higher in pigmentation. 

I think that this is my last big empties as I have used up most of my half filled items. Are you a sucker for half using products?

I already was lucky enough to recieved this in the Eau Parfum from my Brother this Christmas. To be honest, I can see myself buying this scent forever. I'll be a little old lady and still pulling my Chanel perfume out of my (hopefully) Chanel handbag. This scent is girly but seductive - it has strong lasting power too.
 
Pantene Repair & Protect Shampoo
I haven't used Pantene for ages, I tried this small bottle and actually really liked it. I quite like the smell as it is fresh. It cleans deep into my head as well and even though it is a gentle shampoo, it feels as though it is clean my scalp too! 

Corsodyl Daily Defence Mouthwash
I have really sensitive gums; I need something which cleanses and cleans my teeth and gums. It isn't overpowering or super strong - I hate when mouth washes are really strong. But after using this for a fortnight, I can tell the difference in my teeth and dental care. Would recommended it to everyone, as it is a quick and easy way to help your towards healthy gums and teeth. 

Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Conditioner 
I have a supply of this in the larger size already. I really like it but not as an everyday shampoo but as one of thoses that I used after using a clarifying shampoo such as BIG. It makes my hair feel super soft and shiny without weighing it down. It is also sulfate & paraben free which makes me like them more as I believe it is kinder on my hair.

Even though this is in my repurchase section and I would 100% buy it again, the only thing that does put me off is the price. It is £32.50 which for a bronzer which doesn't actually last that long is pretty annoying. However, the glow it gives is beautiful. It is buildable and has a slight shimmer in it so it contours your face more when the light hits your face. 

The Body Shop Cranberry Joy Room & Linen Spray
I have this already and I am a quarter through my current bottle. I have notice they have gone into the sale so I need to get into my nearest Body Shop to stock up as this scent only comes out at Christmas and it is my favourite. I love the berry scent and I use it mainly on my bedding inbetween washes, just to freshen it up. I haven't found anything that comes close to this.

I really did like this and the reason that I only might repurchase it was because I prefer the 'Nourishing Oil Care' one. I did like this and thought that it really conditioned my hair but I just prefered the silkiness of the oil care and the that it is a little lighter than the Intensive Repair. 

Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum Foundation in no.52 - see full review here
When I bought this at first I really didn't like it. I thought that it wasn't anything special, but as the cooler months started to draw in - I realised what was great about it. It is super light and it is blendable whilst nourishing the skin. It gave a dewy glow which I need when the weather starts to get cooler. The only thing is, is that I find it similar to Rimmel Wake Me Up - just not as heavy - but I think I prefer the Rimmel.

I am not keen on the smell, which is my first observation about this product. I don't like that traditional Soap & Glory smell in a hair product. I also find that this mask is quite thick and heavy. That aside, it does really nourish my hair when it is feeling super dry which not many hair masks touch my hair when it is rough. I prefer this mini tube too as I only use it on the odd occasion.

I haven't used any other foot soaking products, I liked this one as it felt as though it was softening the hard skin on my feet. Also the peppermint smell lasts as well which I find cheaper products don't usually do. I just think this does the job and does it well. 

Lush Oatifix Fresh Face Mask
I am working my way around all of the Lush Fresh Face Masks. I love most of them, like the rest and the only one I dislike is the Cupcake (as it made me break out). This Oatifix is really great when your skin is feeling sore, like if you have been over indulging in products, or the cold weather has got to your skin and even if you have sun burn. It contains a blend of bananas, vanilla and oats. It didn't do wonders for my skin as I need masks for blemishes but I would recommend it for anyone who needs to brighten up their skin or has super sensitive skin.

Umberto Giannini Intense Beauty Conditioner
Again as you know I am a smell person and if I don't like the smell of something, I normally don't like the product unless it is amazing. To be honest when I put this conditioner on it hardly made any difference on my hair whether I put this on or not.  
 

nSpa Jojoba & White Jasmine Body Polish
I love the smell of this unlike the Umberto Conditioner. The thing that lets this product down is that it doesn't feel like a polish. It feels like a shower gel which has these little annoying bits in it which doesn't actually do anything. It was okay but not something I would use again.


VO5 Perfect Lengths Serum Mist
It has taken me AGES to use this up but I was determind to do it. I HATE the smell and it made my hair feel greasy if I put too much on and it was hard to control how much you apply. I am just happy to have used 80% of this so I can now throw it away. 

The Body Shop Japanese Cherry Blossom Body Lotion 
Not my favourite smell but nice enough! For me unless I adore a body lotion I rarely repurchase it, they normally have to blow me off my feet for me to repurchase but I did enjoy using this scent.

I just HATE these from the beginning but I used them up when I was at the gym because I am normally too tired to care much at the time. However always regretted it afterwards, my hair felt clean but it was left frizzy, dry and had that feeling of when you don't wash a product out - even though I had spent ages washing it out. Steering clear of these - even though they have been rebranded. Has anyone tried this?

That was a big empties, I will be doing another one next month as I am trying to use up all of my minis and products which only have a little left in. It is saving me money and it definately saving me space.

nspa 4-Step Beauty Ritual

I am super excited about this product, that I am not quite sure where to start. I suppose I should talk about the misconception of the title. This skin care regime does consist of 4 step, however I only have up to 3! This is because my local Asda (where they are sold) never have number 4 in stock - it must be to do with how good and cheap they are. 

So what initally attracted me to this range was an advert that I saw in a magazine months ago, I am not quite sure what magazine it was. I googled the brand and was shocked to see that they were from Asda (the magazine advertorial look really fancy.) All these products are paraben-free, contain essential oil of Neroli and are under a tenner! 

Melting Cleansing Gel - This soft, warming gel easily massages onto the skin, lifting and removing make-up and impurities. When adding water the clear gel/balm formula melts into a milk like consistency. It contails Ginseng, Vitamin E and Grapeseed Oil, which gives it, it's herbal spa like scent. The smell of this product is one of my favourite things about it. To be honest, I just love the way it effortlessly removes make up whilst keeping my skin soft and not irritating it at the same time. 

Hot Cloth Polish - The first thing that I want to mention about this product is the quality of cloth which comes with it. Now considering it is on the cheaper end of the Hot Polishes out their, it has a cloth which could rivial the quality of the Liz Earle one. In fact the polish itself could rivial the Liz Earle. It smells similar, is gentle enough and leaves my skin feeling and looking amazing. The packaging is basic, yet feels nice has a fitted lid and the product comes out via a pump. It contains Ginseng, Vitamin E, Coco Butter and Sweet Almond Oil. Now that I have been using this I am not sure whether I will be going back to the Liz Earle, this gives me the same effects for half the price! 

Illuminating Beauty Serum - This is my least favourite out of the 3 products and I think it is only down to preference to why I am I think it doesn't live up to the other two products. The formula has specs of fine glitter in it and I really don't like glitter in my skincare, bath products or body lotions. Saying that this product does make your skin look instantly brightened. And just like the other products it contains Gingseng, Vitamin E and Maca Root. It sinks into the skin quickly and smoothes on.

My Sunday Pamper

Hello My Loves, 
I am a massive pampering person, I literally couldn't think of anything better than to spend my Sunday evening in the bath getting myself ready for the rest of the week. I thought I would share with you the stages and why it is my favourite time of the week!

First up, I always make sure the bathroom door is shut when I start running the bath, this allows all the hot water steam up the bathroom. I turn on the radio (usually Magic) or I put a playlist of YouTube videos on my iPad. Then I light some candles and I am ready to go. 

For this bath I am using Lush FUN Bath Playdough - in PINK (which smells like Snow Fairy if you are familiar with Lush. I hold it under the running water and watch it lather up, then once it begins to disperse I drop it in the water.

I soak myself in the bath for a while before I start any preparation to make sure that I am really relaxed! I put my Bath Gloves on then take a scoop full of Breakfast Scrub and then exfoliate the top half of my body first then the my second. I'm not sure why I do it in this order, but it just seems the right way for me as after I shave my legs (not my favourite job). I always seem to miss at least one section on my leg, thats when I use the puff and the soap to moisturise my legs and also shave off any stray hairs. The Lush Soap that I use is really nourishing and moisturising for my skin and I love using it! It is one of my favourite Lush products. See a full review of The Breakfast Scrub here. Once I let the bath empty, I use the shower tap to wash off any excess products.

Once I get out of the bath this is where I start to do my body work and start my hair. I tend to put a hair mask on before I start this whole process and wrap my hair in cling film to let my hair have a really deep treatment. Out of the bath I towel dry myself and apply the body lotion and spritz on the deodorant. Then whilst the body lotion is sinking in, because it is thick it takes a few minutes, I start to do my hair. I wash off the hair mask, then shampoo twice with this Lush clarifying shampoo (see full review) followed by a nourishing conditioner which has oils in it for extra conditioning. After washing I brush out with my Tangle Teezer with a leave in conditioner to finish my conditioning process.

This is my most intense skincare regime that I have when my skin is really down in the dumps, for example if I have had a stressful week or been over indulging with junk food and alcohol then it plays havoc with my skin. I use the Bioderma to rid my skin of most of the make-up then I make sure I get off any stubborn make-up with the Botanics Hot Cloth Cleansing Balm which removes all excess and softly cleanses the skin. The Green & Spring   scrub really clears out the pores and is a great base for the Lush face mask to repair and soothe the skin. After all of this I splash my face with cold water and pat dry. I moisturise with Effaclar K which is light and helps keeps blemishes at bay. Grease Lightning is a soothing applicator on any large spots and it helps reduce redness and size. For the finishing touches I dabbed a small rice grain size of eye cream around the eye area, then exfoliating my lips with the lip scrub and cover with a thick layer of lip butter!

Woo, this has been such a short week and it is friday already and I have such a busy weekend, I am off to the gym before work, then after work I am meeting my friend for dinner and then we are meeting more friends to see "Professor Penguin" (I don't know who he is but he has a cool name and is performing in a local pub) and then tomorrow it is the SUMMERTIME BALL at Wembley - I am excited to see Coldplay, Jessie J, Katie Perry and Kelly Clarkson :) So I think the cutting down is going out the window will have to be careful for drinking and it's hidden calories. Eeek! 


Also I have had this hair for a couple of weeks now, but I am so happy with the colour of it that I just wanted to showcase it to you all, just hopefully it can keep growing and I can sort out its dryness.

This is my first everyday make up post, but when I say everyday I obviously don't mean I smoother my face with all of this on days when i'm bumming about the house or going to the gym. It is my staple 'face' look. It has been pretty much the same for about a month, I tend to go through phases of using liquid eyeliner and a kohl pencil. Also the orange lip look has been a new trend of mine for the last couple of weeks since I have brought this lip butter - it is my favourite and gives the best colour that I could find on the market.
